It is interesting how friends or relatives can get into synchronicity unexpectedly sometimes. We think about the same thing without talking to each other about it. We raise an idea to the other one without knowing that he/she was actually brainstorming about that subject or we give answer to a question was was not asked yet by the other…..So it happened when I told my friend, Meli about my decision that Taste of Memories blog goes on summer holiday it turned out that she does the same with her very successful travel blog Mind the Map. Our reasons are completely different, however we have something in common. Meli- who I admire because of her adventurousness and braveness- takes a backpack and a tent and goes to Norway for a month by herself to discover the country and the Lofoten Islands. (Read more about here plans here) Meanwhile life assigned me with a task to extend the life of our 80-90 year-old house for another hundred years and together with my boyfriend, Áron to dream a house which would be a place of lots of cooking, eating, chatter and laughter. Frances Mayes wrote in her book “Under the Tuscan sun” that the house is a metaphor for the self. Although we loved our home as it was for some reasons fate- khm-khm…or a rusty old water pipe- forced us to renovate it and I am sure that we will be also shaped by the process. The journey is exciting, sometimes scary as well, maybe just as scary as it is for Meli to start her adventure in Norway. But I can be sure in one thing: no matter how difficult the journey will be, it will be full with memories, stories, photos and inspiration (and in my case with recipes) to share. I would like to wish a wonderful summer with the beautiful photos taken by my friend, Meli (Melinda Egyed) of the Taste of Memories Picnic that has taken place in the Lackó Dezső Museum in Veszprém a few weeks ago, where the blog stepped out of the virtual space for a summer night.
See you in autumn!
Love,
Judit
